A "first-person" Fortnite mode is reportedly in development

According to Fortnite leaks, Epic Games may be planning to finally bring a first-person mode to the battle royale title in the Chapter 3, Season 4 update.

Fortnite has come a long way since its arrival in 2017, with Epic Games frequently updating it with new skins to unlock along with major changes like the addition of a No-Build mode.

However, many players have always clamored for the developers to add a first-person mode to the title of and, it seems that the long-awaited mode might finally arrive in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 4.

Fortnite has always featured a third-person view, and the closest players have ever come to a first-person view is on the Box Fights map. However, notable leaker HYPEX says that’s about to change.

After claiming that a first-person game mode was in early development, the leaker tweeted on July 18 that the developers had updated it“several times”. He also showed a concept image of what that mode might look like.

HYPEX went on to say that this mode could “eventually come out in season 4”. This mode will be different from the game’s current aiming mechanics as the camera will work in first person even when you are not aiming.

While this sounds promising, it should be noted that this information has not yet been officially verified by Epic Games and is therefore subject to a fair amount of skepticism.

However, given that one of the battle maps already features a first-person view, it’s entirely possible that the developers will add a separate FPS mode in the next seasonal update.
