With only a few weeks left until the beta for Modern Warfare 2 kicks off, the developers are slowly lifting the veil on what’s in store for players. Recently they introduced the game’s new armory system, which will be available from the beta to allow players to get used to the various changes made.

After several weeks of radio silence, information has suddenly increased about Modern Warfare 2 and the multiple steps that will precede its launch, starting with the multiplayer beta.

In fact, Activision unveiled Modern Warfare 2’s official path to launch, allowing players to discover that in addition to the beta, the Campaign will be accessible early. Starting October 20, players who pre-ordered the game will be able to jump right into the Campaign, but before that, they’ll get a sneak peek at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode through the beta.

On August 16, an article on the franchise’s official website explaining how to access Modern Warfare 2’s Campaign early revealed some interesting information about the game’s beta.

Naturally, the blog details all the rewards players will get after pre-ordering the game, including early access to the open beta. Among these various rewards is an FJX Cinder weapon chest. The developers explain that they “plan to share more information about this weapon chest and the new armory”while noting that“these will also be available during the Open Beta.”

For now this new armory remains shrouded in many shadows, but we imagine that during the beta, players will get their first glimpse of the features it offers.

This will also be an opportunity to find out how many accessories per weapon players will be able to equip in Modern Warfare 2.

As a reminder, the multiplayer open beta will run from September 16 to 26 depending on platform.
