During its second-quarter earnings call, Activision hinted at a new “premium” Call of Duty game due out in 2023.
While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will officially be released on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, a Bloomberg report from February revealed that Activision was planning to delay the next annual CoD from 2023 developed by Treyarch to the year after.
This big decision marks the first time in nearly two decades that no CoD will be released during a calendar year, and surprisingly, the community has come out overwhelmingly in favor of delaying Treyarch’s next installment for 2023.
According to a February poll conducted by CharlieINTEL, 92% of 20,000 votes were in favor of delaying CoD 2023.
However, according to a recent statement in Activision’s Q2 2022 earnings release, the company may finally release a new Call of Duty game in 2023.
